The airfare for London, Milan, Paris and Berlin is going up by nearly 40 per cent on flights to Egypt’s capital, Cairo, as the government looks to reduce travel costs amid a record drought.
The average price of a domestic London-bound flight from London to Cairo is now £8,977, down from £8.6 million two years ago.
Flights from Milan to Cairo are also down by 20 per cent from last year, but prices are now cheaper, with an average of £1.3 million per ticket from Milan-Cairo, down 20 per the previous year.
London to Milan is now cheaper than it was two years previously, according to data from airline industry consultants.
However, prices for Berlin to Cairo have risen by 50 per cent since last year and Milan to Paris is up by 30 per cent.
