The US Department of Transportation (USDOT) is now offering flights between Austin, the city where the United flight originated, and New York.
The flights from Austin start from Austin and leave New York at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Airlines have been offering flights to Austin since 2011.
In 2017, the Austin airport received a $1 million grant from the US DOT to help expand the airport’s capacity.
The US DOT says it will be using the funds to expand the Austin hub and to expand services.
New York City has also been providing flights to New England since 2009.
“We’re excited to partner with the City of Austin and offer flights to the city of Austin as we continue to grow the Austin economy and welcome more visitors and visitors from across the country,” US DOT Commissioner Todd Stern said in a statement.
